UN Sustainability Goals

The UN has released a list of Sustainable Development Goals, many of which closely align to Macalester's Sustainability Goals. There are 17 different goals, each which address a specific issue pertaining to sustainability. This month is energy month for the Sustainability office. The UN Sustainable Development Goals that compliment energy month are Affordable and Clean Energy, Sustainable Cities and Communities and Climate Action. These Goals are heavily related to energy consumption. Affordable and Clean Energy refers to ensuring universal access to energy, increased energy efficiency and increased use of renewable energy. Sustainable Cities and Communities refers to reducing poverty and pollution in cities. Climate Action refers to finding solutions to climate change, and coordinating an international effort. These are all heavily related to energy month. This month we aim to focus on energy usage, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals that relate to energy usage.
