Sustainable Lightbulb Information

Facilities is working hard to replace the lightbulbs around campus to reduce total college energy use. Here's a detailed list of the projects in which facilities is currently engaged.

  • The 15 parking lot pole lights in the Leonard Center & West parking lots now feature LED lamps.
  • We have ordered 200 LED lamps for the campus walkway pole lights that will be installed over the summer of 2016.
  • The 100+ floodlights in the Chapel sanctuary ceiling were just converted to LED.
  • The Kagin ballroom lights will be switched to LED bulbs over the summer of 2016.
  • For the Leonard Center we have purchased a sample 320 watt LED fixture to install and evaluate as a replacement for the 1000 watt metal halide fixtures that presently serve the pool area. We are also planning to retrofit the MH fixtures that serve the racquetball courts, the high output fluorescent lamps in the fitness center, stairwell fixtures, and compact CFL lamps throughout the facility to LED.
  • We just authorized replacement of the 20 light fixtures that serve the Campus Center stairwells with LED fixtures that have built-in occupancy sensors. If they work well there I hope to roll out that measure on campus.
